A 'Space Elevator' is a ribbon of Carbon NanoTubes hanging from geosynchronous
orbit to the Earth. For just the effort of climbing th ribbon, cargo,
or passengers, can be lifted to high earth orbits, or thrown to the Moon,
asteroids, Mars, or other planets. This will revolutionize space exploration,
telecommunications, remote sensing. It will allow us to build solar power
satellites, and lead to the settlement of the solar system.
